4 steps to a good page design

1. Purpose – Establish the purpose of the page. Is it an advert, an entry screen a showcase, functional etc. Working this out will dictate …

2. Content – What elements need/ought to be on the page? Which are important / linked etc. which will suggest…

3. Layout – Pencil and paper first. Some elements have established positions eg. ‘sign-out’, navigation, home. Others will be linked in some logical way…

4. Detail – Finally look at textures, colours and possibly type faces.

Div position relative to window rather than page

Use position:fixed rather than position:absolute to fix the position of a div relative to the browser window rather than a specific point in the page

Simple (when you know how)!

Copy an image

Edit -> Paste as -> New pattern

This adds it to the pattern list so when you choose the paint bucket, select Fill Type – Pattern fill then pick your pattern from the dialogue.
