After about an hour of trying to solve a css problem It appears that folders called ‘users’ cause problems. Renamed to ‘allusers’ and all now works!

O2 Wireless for mac
February 6th, 2009The short version:
1. Connect using a cable (wireless switched off by default)
2. Change the admin password (instructions below)
3. Change the network settings (instructions below)
4. CHANGE ENCRYPTION TO WPA (no idea why but wep encryption was causing airport to freak out)
5. Connect!
The long version:
Bit of a nightmare. Just transferred broadband from orange to O2. All went fine as far as the transfer process (surprisingly!). The difficulties started when I tried to hook up the new router.
O2 give you a CD with the usual ‘helper’ programs but unsurprisingly they’re for windows PC’s.
First tried to connect to the router wirelessly but no joy [it later transpired that this is turned off for security]. Only option then is to connect via cable. A bit of a problem when your PC is on the other side of the room from the phone line so had to borrow my flatmates PC laptop (shock horror). So now what? How to configure the router without installing bloated software all over the place.
After some fruitless snooping online, noticed this address on the bottom of the router:
http://O2wirelessbox.lan
If you log in to that using ‘Administrator’ (CAPITAL A) and a blank password you can access the router’s admin screen.
Before you do anything else you need to change the administrator password
[Toolbox -> User Management in the left menu. Then click 'change my password' at the bottom.]
Tucked away in a mystery corner of the menu system is the configuration panel where you can set your network ID, encryption type etc.
[Home Network -> Interfaces in the left menu. Then click the WLAN in the main panel. Then click configure at the top right! Who designed this crap?]
From then on things get easier. You can set network id, encryption (USE WPA!!) and tell it to allow new connections.
